Question 1

What is TourneyMagic?

Accepted Answer

TourneyMagic is built for coaches of travel softball and baseball teams. It plans your season and your tournaments, and it emails you your pool-play schedule the moment it's posted. It knows how hard each tournament is, and how hard each of your pool games will be, because it rates every team from the games all of them have actually played: hundreds of thousands of publicly posted results, so nobody can pay for a better number.

Question 2

How do I create my first team?

Accepted Answer

Click "Set up your team" on the Search page (or Team settings in the account menu). Enter the team name, home ZIP and age group, and confirm the team we find. Answer a couple of questions and your season plan is built. Add more teams later from Team settings, and switch between them from the account menu.

Question 3

Can I see the product tour again?

Accepted Answer

Yes -- click Tour in the top bar, any time. It walks you through whatever page you are on: Team Calendar and Season Planner each have their own, and everywhere else you get the tour of the app itself. (The button at the top of this page does the same thing.)

Question 4

How do schedule emails work?

Accepted Answer

Mark a tournament Signed up and we watch its official schedule. When pool play is posted, the head coach and admins get an email with each of your pool games: the time and field exactly as the tournament published them, who you're playing, and how the two teams match up. It usually arrives within half an hour of the schedule going up, between 7am and midnight Central.

Question 5

What if the schedule changes?

Accepted Answer

You get an ALERT email straight away, with the old time or field crossed out and the new one highlighted. We read the schedule twice before emailing anything, so a half-built or briefly wrong schedule never reaches you.

Question 6

Why does it ask which team on the list is ours?

Accepted Answer

Some tournament sites give a team a new number for every event, so we can't find your games from your profile alone. You pick your team from that tournament's own list once, and we never guess from a name. On sites where your number stays the same, later tournaments are matched for you.

Question 7

Does it cover bracket games?

Accepted Answer

Yes, for tournaments you've marked Signed up, on most tournament sites. Once your pool games are under way we watch the bracket, and when your team is placed you get an email with your first bracket game: the time, field and opponent exactly as posted. The bracket stays on My Weekend and your calendar as it fills in. Brackets move fast, so check the official bracket before each game. The free one-tournament schedule email (no account) covers pool play only.

Question 8

Can I turn schedule emails off?

Accepted Answer

Yes, from Your account → Notifications, with the same switch as the other tournament emails.

Question 9

How do I search for tournaments?

Accepted Answer

The Search page filters by location and distance, date range, age division, and sanction -- set them and click Search. If you have a team, Search opens on your team's age group near your home ZIP.

Question 10

Why don't I see a tournament I know is happening?

Accepted Answer

Listings refresh daily through automated ingestion, so very recently posted tournaments can take up to a day to appear. The host organization may also not be one of our supported sanctions yet. Tell us about it with the form at the bottom of this page and we'll look into adding it.

Question 11

Why can't I search by class (AA, AAA, Major, D2, B, C)?

Accepted Answer

Because the same word doesn't mean the same thing from one organizer to the next. We checked nearly 1,900 baseball teams that registered with a class in two different organizations. The labels line up in order (nobody's AA is anyone's Major) but not one-for-one: of teams one organization calls Major, only a handful are Major in another (most enter its open division), and teams called AAA in one split almost evenly between two classes in another. A class filter across organizations would put roughly one team in three in the wrong bucket, and those are exactly the teams you're trying to size up. So we show each tournament's classes exactly as its organizer printed them, and compare fields with the field rating instead, which is built from games actually played and already accounts for each organization's classes.

Question 12

What does the field rating mean?

Accepted Answer

It's how strong a tournament's field is, on the same 1-10 scale as your team rating, worked out from the ratings of the teams registered in your age group. It is their average, weighted towards the strongest third, because the teams at the top decide who wins. "Field 5.8 vs your 7.1" means the field is weaker than your team; a higher field number means tougher competition.

Question 13

How current is the strength data?

Accepted Answer

Team rosters and rankings are refreshed on a daily or weekly cadence depending on the sanction. Cross-sanction ratings are rebuilt weekly. A team's strength reflects its most recent results across every sanction it plays in, not just one.

Question 14

Why does a tournament say "Too early" instead of a field rating?

Accepted Answer

The organizer hasn't published a team list yet, or too few of the registered teams have a rating to judge the field. The rating fills in by itself as teams register.

Question 15

What do Interested, Signed up, and Backup mean?

Accepted Answer

Interested marks a tournament you're considering. Signed up means your team is registered and playing -- only these get weather alerts and the family briefing email. Backup is a plan B for one weekend, in case your main event is cancelled or doesn't fill. The calendar lists it under that weekend's main event.

Question 16

Can my teammates see the calendar?

Accepted Answer

Yes -- anyone on your team's roster with access can see the shared calendar and its statuses.

Question 17

What do Confidence, Target, Growth, and Stretch mean?

Accepted Answer

How a tournament's field compares with your team. Confidence events have an easier field, Target events are an even match, Growth events are a step up, and Stretch events are a much tougher field. Your goal for the season sets how many of each go into the plan.

Question 18

How does the planner know my team's level?

Accepted Answer

From your team's results -- wins and losses weighted by how strong the opponents were -- across the sanctions we find your team in. Early in a season it leans on last season's results, marked down if the team moved up an age group. It updates as you play.

Question 19

Can I change the plan it suggests?

Accepted Answer

Yes. In the Season Planner you can swap any event for another one that weekend, remove it, or tap Keep to hold it when you rebuild. Change your dates, drive time or goal in Season settings and the plan rebuilds to match.

Question 20

How do I invite teammates or co-coaches?

Accepted Answer

From the Team page, send an invite by email and choose their role. They'll get a link to join your team.

Question 21

How do I switch between multiple teams I manage?

Accepted Answer

Open the account menu -- if you have more than one team, a "Switch team" list appears there.

Question 22

How do I change my team's name, age group or home ZIP?

Accepted Answer

In Team settings (account menu), under Team details. Season dates, drive time and goal are under Season settings.

Question 23

Who pays, and how does the free trial work?

Accepted Answer

Only head coaches pay, per team they head-coach. Parents, players and assistant coaches use TourneyMagic free. A head coach's free first month starts when they set up their first team, or take over one as head coach. No card is required. The price per team is on the Pricing page (link at the bottom of every page).

Question 24

How do I upgrade, downgrade, or cancel?

Accepted Answer

From Your account (profile), the Billing section links to a secure billing portal where you can manage or cancel your plan any time.

Question 25

How do I change my password?

Accepted Answer

From Your account (profile), under Password. If you signed up with Google, you can set a password there for the first time.

Question 26

How do softball and baseball data stay separate?

Accepted Answer

Each sport has its own teams, season plans, and calendar. Switching sports (via the toggle in the nav) takes you to that sport's version of whatever page you're on.

Question 27

Do I need a separate account for each sport?

Accepted Answer

No -- one login covers both. Create a team in each sport you coach or follow, and switch between them freely.
